The Right Experience At The Right Time

Denny_FormalFriends,

I want to thank the voters of Sarpy County for supporting me in the primary election. The results were both exciting and quite humbling. I am truly honored by your votes of confidence and trust.

Throughout the campaign, I met so many wonderful people who were genuinely interested in the surveyor's office and growth and management of our county. You shared your ideas and concerns with me when we talked at your front door, community events, area businesses and over the phone. Your ideas and questions made me a better candidate and, hopefully, will make me a better elected official.

Thank you also to the volunteers who helped me throughout the campaign. From friends and family, to all of the people who let me place a campaign sign in their yard, everyone played a part in the victory. Without your help, I would have not won the republican primary. Thanks to each of you.

For those that did not vote for me or those of you who did not vote in the May primary, I look forward to the opportunity to earn your trust and confidence.

The general election is ahead in November and although there is not another filed candidate in the race, be assured I will continue to reach out to listen, learn and lead. Please contact me if you have any ideas or issues of concern. Thank you.

Sarpy Surveyor Ousted

Tom Lynam, the longtime Sarpy County surveyor, was ousted in Tuesday's Republican primary by challenger Denny Wilson.

Since being elected in 1990, Lynam hadn't faced an opponent until this election.
But his handling of federal highway funds in 2008 may have been too much for him to overcome.

The World-Herald reported that the Federal Highway Administration withdrew $6.9 million from a road project overseen by Lynam's office. The money was pulled after officials said Lynam failed to respond to state and federal requests for information about land acquisitions.
